Victims To Voice Pain
Summary:
The Secretary of State Paul Murphy described plans to help people deal with the legacy of the Troubles, during which more than 3,600 people died:
"The past belongs to everyone in Northern Ireland and we need to hear from all who suffered.
We must move forward collectively and we need to hear from all who suffered.
We must move forward collectively if we are to build a better future, freed from the conflicts of the past."
The consultation process will also hear from experts in the field of truth and reconciliation.
One of the people consulted already is US special envoy Mitchell Reiss.
He has said there must be an element of 'storytelling' to the process so that people can record the events that are important to them.
