The Art of Storytelling
Summary:
Storykeepers, a group made up mainly of seniors who meet once a month at the Homewood Public Library, shares stories and often a few good laughs over coffee.
"People like to laugh together," said Storykeepers facilitator Lee Cunningham, who, with husband Ted, brought the group to the library.
"What I did on my summer vacation," the topic for the group's July meeting, sparked the group to recall summers from their childhoods -- the family trips, the work and a world before a television sat in every living room.
The group usually starts with a topic, but doesn't always stick with it, Lee Cunningham said.
The couple were inspired to bring Storykeepers to Homewood by author and professional storyteller
Jim May. They started attending meetings May facilitated in McHenry County about four years ago, she said.
