Tell Us a Story
La Crosse Tribune (La Crosse, WI) ,
September 7, 2004
Summary:
One of the featured storytellers at the
La Crosse Storytelling Festival this weekend will be
Don Falkos. He believes:
"Every story, if it's told correctly, involves audience participation. There's a flow of energy that goes between the storyteller and the listener. If that flow of energy ceases, there's no contact. The audience has to actively listen. If the audience isn't listening, there is no story."
Other storytellers at this festival are Danielle Daniel, an international teller who combines story, music, song, and dance; "Iron Mike" Hillman of the Iron Range of Minnesota, who mixes humorous "stretched" tales of the upper Midwest with more serious stories; and local tellers from the Bluff Country Talespinners.
