Storytellers Bring Tales to Black Mountain

Asheville Citizen-Times (Asheville, NC) , July 8, 2005

Summary:

The Second Annual Black Mountain Storytelling Weekend is scheduled for Aug. 6 and 7. Storytellers from across the region will entertain audiences with their tales of wisdom, humor and life lessons.

"There are a lot of great storytellers with impressive talent in this area," says Dan Howachyn, Black Mountain Iron Works owner and founding committee member of the storytelling weekend. "We want to get local people involved and draw new visitors to our wonderful mountain town."

"I really believe in storytelling and the arts," said Trish Russell, a storyteller and founding committee member. "The youth today need to hear those stories to preserve this centuries-old practice."
