Stories to be Told

Summary:
The second Pierpont Storytelling Festival aims to pull the community together and revive history and culture.
A storytelling festival is a gathering of storytellers using various techniques to teach storytelling, encourage people to find their own stories, and bring affordable, community building, intergenerational and intercultural experience to the people of eastern South Dakota and neighboring people.
This festival is held in Pierpont because of the area's ancestry. Scandinavian, northern European and Native American groups have a tradition of oral history, which is disappearing.
This is not just a way of entertaining children, nor is it a 'tall tales' competition. The teller is a scholar, teacher and artist and the listeners practice creative listening.
